Cromwell, the first weir situated to the north of Newark
on Trent. Has a fish pass which while it looks impressive is probably
not working due to faulty design, and is inadequte in that it is not suitable
for all species which require passage. A fish counter will be installed
on this Fish pass in the Summer of 2008 so that a true assessment can
be made of this fish pass.
Averham, South of Newark on Trent. Salmon can pass this weir in times
of high water, needs a fish pass to accommodate all species.
Fiskerton weir at Hazelford is a mighty 7 step weir which stops all fish
movement except in flood conditions(right-yes there is a weir under there).
Fish ladder on this weir would enable fish to get access to the rest of
the River Trent and into the lower reaches of the River Derwent and River
Dove,
